FiberToHome

fiber to home

FiberToHome describes installing broadband telecommunications connections via fiber optic cable directly to a residence, home or business. Sometimes also referred to as “Fiber to the premisis”.

FiberToHome eliminates the need for “last mile” DSL and cable connections, and has the bandwidth to handle all digital content on one connection (telephone, internet, television, etc).

Some existing bandwidth installations for FiberToHome are in the range of 45 Mbits per second to 100 Mbits per second, which is contrasted with DSL and cable speeds at around 3-5 Mbits per second, or lower, in many US areas.
